Liz and Harrison – San Diego Botanic Garden Wedding

I was really happy when I arrived at the San Diego Botanic Garden to capture this amazing wedding with Aimee Westcott of Captured by Aimee! Though at first I was intimidated by the groom’s interest in photography, I soon learned that Liz and Harrison are two of the most laid-back and fun-loving people in the world. Their wedding was filled with details they and their families had created, and you could tell they were there for a good time! We started the afternoon with an intimate first look:

In the middle of saying his vows to Liz, Harrison paused for a moment to snap a photo of his bride so that he could remember her in that moment forever. It was so sweet! I think my eyes leaked a little…

Instead of a traditional layered wedding cake, Liz and Harrison brought in several dozen Julian Pies for their guests to enjoy after chowing down on delicious Phil’s BBQ! YUM!

I love that you can see Liz using a Super 8 to film Harrison and his mom’s dance in this shot!

I mentioned what a fun-loving couple these two were, right? Proof below: the night ended with a pinata!

By the way, if you have an extra three minutes to spare, you gotta check out the super fun save-the-date video that Harrison filmed on his Super 8! So rad!

And go ahead to see what Aimee captured here!

Cori and Lamont – Escondido Wedding

Oh. My. Gosh. I am so excited to share this gorgeous wedding with you!

You remember Cori and Lamont, right? Oh yes, I am talking about the couple that I convinced to come model for the San Diego Shooting Group earlier this year. Weren’t they fabulous?!

I was so excited when Cori contacted me shortly after that shoot to chat with me about becoming their photographer for their lovely vintage, garden-chic wedding in Escondido. Cori and I quickly bonded when we discovered our shared design backgrounds, so clearly I jumped on the chance to become involved with their amazing day, and I’m so honored that they asked me to be a part of it! Not only was it an amazingly fun weekend, but we’ve become really great friends in the process, and I just *LOVE* that! (Besides, have you seen Cori’s design blog, Pretty Haute Mess? Go follow it now. You’ll be glad you did!)

I first met up with Lamont at their duplex in Escondido to grab a handful of shots of him while he was getting ready for the day.

Then, I hurried over to Cori’s childhood home to capture her and her girls!

Cori’s sister-in-law gave her a beautiful blessing that had the whole room misty-eyed (including the photographer)!

Cori was an absolutely stunning bride!

Cori and Lamont chose to have their wedding ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Escondido. St. Mary’s is the same church where Cori’s parents, Mike and Leticia, had their wedding ceremony in 1964! How cool is that?!

The reception was held at the privately-owned Rancho San Tomas in Valley Center. It is a gorgeous property with a huge lawn that overlooks a small lake at one end! Cori’s decor was a little vintage, a little modern, and totally garden-chic!

Did I mention the two types of fresh sangria offered to the guests? Just take a look below! It looked amazing!

Many thanks and congratulations to the beautiful bride and handsome groom!

xoxo,
Lauren

Kristi and Nate – Ocean Beach San Diego Wedding

A few months ago, Aimee Westcott of Captured by Aimee asked me to assist her at a fabulous wedding at Ocean View Villas near Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach. We met up with Kristi and her girls at The Pearl before heading over to the Villas for the ceremony. The swanky hotel provided a deliciously retro backdrop for Kristi to get ready for her big day, and you could feel the love among the group as they helped with the preparations!

I mentioned all the love floating around the room, right? Check out all the love notes that the ladies were writing to Kristi, and she was writing to them.

Since I was second shooting, Aimee let me play around with a Diana lens I have. The Diana lens produces dreamy, vintage-y images because it’s all plastic! I had fun using it to take this portrait of the girls. :)

Emilia of Sweet Emilia Jane did an absolutely gorgeous job with the details for this wedding!

Here are a few more I shot with my Diana! :)

These fun ones were shot with Aimee’s Lensbaby. Mmmm tilt shift!

Oh, hey, while you’re at it, go check out the feature from this wedding on Style Me Pretty! And here’s Aimee’s take on the day!

Lauren

La Jolla DOUBLE Wedding

Yes, you read that correctly! Earlier this month, Stephanie Zyga invited me to photograph a very special wedding with her on the beach in La Jolla, CA. She had been contacted by a beautiful bride, Christina, who had met her fiance, Brooks, while they were both at the Naval Academy. As the conversation continued, Stephanie learned that Brooks’ sister, Shannon, was also going to be married to her fiance, Robert, at the same time!

The day started at a rental house near Sunset Cliffs, where all three families stayed and got ready together. It was a relaxing morning and you could just feel the love among everyone there!

Brooks and Robert made some mighty delicious mimosas to start the morning off right! Here’s Christina enjoying one while Shannon had her hair done.

While Christina was getting her hair and makeup done, Shannon relaxed in the kitchen with a good book.

I love that Brooks was able to watch on as Christina prepped for her wedding day. Check out the smile on his face!

Brooks and Shannon’s mom created programs for the guests.

That morning, a skywriter was above to deliver a message: “WE <3 U!” How appropriate!

Christina and Shannon carried gorgeous bouquets!

It’s not everyday that a photographer is able to capture TWO sets of wedding rings together!

Robert and Brooks’s moms watched as Christina’s mother zipped up her dress.

We headed to Scripps Park early in the afternoon to capture portraits of the couples and their guests.

Isn’t Shannon just glowing??

Christina was feeling adventurous and hopped up on this rock. Brooks followed suit, so we asked Shannon and Robert to step in too!

It was a small, peaceful ceremony on the beach at Scripps Park, followed by an intimate dinner at George’s at the Cove. As you can see in the following set of images, the wedding drew quite a crowd!

Thanks again to the lovely brides and grooms for allowing me to be a part of their very special day! Congratulations to them and their wonderful families!

Happy Spring, everyone!
