Welcome Home, Mason!

Jessica waited patiently for months for Mason to come back from his first deployment, and I was so excited to be there to capture this reunion for them! Several former Marines from Mason’s unit were present and kept Jessica occupied while waiting on the buses to arrive. Originally from New Orleans, Jessica said she felt like she was back at Mardi Gras while standing on an ice chest so Mason could see her from afar. ;) Here are some favorites from the evening.

Welcome Home, Chris! – USMC Homecoming

Stephanie and I had been chatting about her husband’s homecoming for a while before it (finally!) happened. She and I met because she is a Naval Officer and we worked together at the ROICC (construction office) at Camp Pendleton, and I’m so glad our friendship stretched beyond the office! While Chris was gone, Stephanie held down the home front while continuing to work at the ROICC and taking care of their sweet girl, E. E is such a cutie and was so excited to be able to give her daddy a hug again, after not seeing him for 6 months!

I was afraid I’d get stuck in traffic on the way down to Miramar, so I left terribly early. We met up at Stephanie’s house, even after I accidentally took the scenic route around San Diego, and finished up a few last-minute things before heading to Miramar. We got there just a few minutes before the airplane landed, but still had enough time to finish up the sign Stephanie put together for Miss E!

Welcome Home, Eric! – USMC Homecoming

Photographing this specific homecoming was such an honor. You may perhaps recognize Betty and Eric from this post from 2011, when we first met. Or this one or this one from last fall. Perhaps you saw Betty in one of the many sessions we did last summer! No? Ok, nevermind. :)

These two are some of the sweetest Nebraskans I’ve ever met, and though I’m so excited that Eric returned from his final deployment last week, I’m saddened that they’ll soon be making their way back to the land of corn fields and goldenrod flowers. Eric has been deployed multiple times–several as a Sailor and twice as a Marine–and I know he’s happy to be back in Betty’s arms for good!

Here are some of my favorites from their St. Patrick’s Day reunion!

Lauren & Ryan – Laguna Hills Civic Center Wedding

Lauren and Ryan’s wedding last month at the Laguna Hills Civic Center was simply romantic. The beautiful bride and handsome groom were accompanied by their families as they said their vows and celebrated at a local restaurant. Everyone was all smiles that afternoon! A session with HeartsApart.org

It has been a while since I’ve posted a session done as a photographer with HeartsApart.org. Giving back to fellow military families is so awesome, and I absolutely love HeartsApart.org’s mission: “to keep families connected while our military men and women are serving abroad.” Photographs are such a powerful way to be comforted when we’re apart from our loved ones. Each image seems to trigger a different emotional reaction and I have definitely cherished the images I took with my husband before he deployed. :)
