A Gorgeous Sunday in Oceanside

When my husband said he needed to head into Oceanside proper to get a haircut this afternoon, I jumped at the chance to take a walk down to the Oceanside Pier and through a bit of downtown with him. Usually, he heads to the barber alone, but the weather was too nice to not take advantage of the opportunity! Plus, I was itching to play around with the Holga lens I have.

We stopped for lunch at Dominic’s at the Harbor and shared a delicious pizza with prosciutto, broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes, and artichoke hearts on it. Then we headed to Oceanside. I headed down to the beach when he turned up the street for his haircut, then we met up near the pedestrian underpass before heading home.

It was amazing to spend such a gorgeous afternoon with him on a leisurely stroll, and I captured some fun images with my Holga to boot! Here are a handful of my faves!

Photosanity – Winter 2012

Do you remember my post about Photosanity a while back? Or catch my interview on the NestingNYC blog earlier this week?

Well, I’m really happy to let you know that I’ll be mentoring a local San Diego group of Photosanity participants with the Winter 2012 round of Photosanity! This time, the workshop is broken into a 4-week Intro to Photosanity course and an 8-week follow-up course called More Photosanity. The Intro class starts on January 31 and finishes up on February 21, so it’s a great way to kick-start your resolution to take more (and better!) photos in 2012! The More course will take place March 6 through April 24.

With the Intro course, you will learn what to look for to get the best photos, get tips on how to get your children to cooperate, understand how to look for the best light for photos, know how to make the most of low light situations, and start a photo-a-day project! For more information on this course, click here: Intro to Photosanity.

The More Photosanity course will help you learn all about ISO, aperture and shutter speed, give you easy photo editing tips, help you set up a photo organization system, help you create a beautiful portrait wall gallery using your photos, learn about photo prints and products to share your photos with family and friends, and continue your photo-a-day project. For more information on this course, click here: More Photosanity.

If you’re ready for the time of your life, go ahead and sign up for both the Intro to Photosanity AND the More Photosanity courses by clicking here: The Photosanity Bundle. By purchasing the bundle up front, you’ll save $90!

So where do I come in? I will be the mentor for the San Diego local group, which means I’ll be moderating and commenting on all photos posted to a specific Facebook group just for participating photographers in San Diego! (Ok, it’s not limited to those of us in the San Diego area, but most group members will be in or around here!) If you’re a follower of mine from afar, don’t fret! Photosanity will have also groups in Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City.  AND if you’re not in or near any of those cities, you can join any of the groups you wish! For more information on how the city groups will work, check out this page on the Photosanity website.

AND WAIT! THERE’S MORE!!

Sign up now and use my discount code “LNP20” to save 20% on the already-discounted price of the Photosanity Bundle! Act now–this code is only good through January 31!

I hope to see you there!

Lauren

Our Anniversary

Third time’s the charm!

My husband and I are celebrating our 3rd anniversary today, and it’s the first one we’ve been able to spend together! The Marine Corps sent Clay to Bridgeport for our first anniversary, so I spent it watching a Chargers game with some friends here in San Diego. Last year, Clay was packing up to head out to 29 Palms for a month of pre-deployment training, and I was soaking up as much information as I could at the Professional Photographers of America‘s (PPA) Annual convention, Imaging USA. I’m so excited to spend this one with him!

Here’s one of the few images we have from our wedding day. (Why just a few? It’s a long story!! You’ll have to ask me about it sometime.)

Happy Anniversary, my love!

xoxo,
Lauren

Exciting News for 2012!

Hi all! I’m really excited to let you know about a new direction I’ll be taking with my business this year! I’m proud to announce that I’ve partnered up with Aimee Westcott of Captured by Aimee as an associate photographer!

What does that mean, exactly? Starting NOW, we’ll be offering weddings that I’ll shoot as the sole photographer, but that Aimee will put her magic touch on the photos in post-processing. So, I photograph, and Aimee edits. What to see what I’m talking about? All of the photos in this post were shot by me at a Captured by Aimee wedding, then edited by Aimee.

If you are interested in booking a package with Captured by Aimee, please use the contact form here or email [email protected].

First up is Megan and Brian’s killer wedding in Coronado at the fabulous Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa. The ceremony was held on the lawn, which overlooks the San Diego Bay and the Coronado bridge, and has an incredible view of downtown!

Here’s the gorgeous wedding of Maureen and Taylor. The ceremony took place at the amazing Mission San Diego de Alcala, with the reception following at the Junipero Serra Museum in historic Presidio Park. Take a look!

And, in case you need photographic proof of how well Aimee and I work as a team, here’s a shot of us from the photo booth at Megan and Brian’s reception! (Yes, a tripod was involved!)

I’m super stoked about being a part of the Captured team and I can’t wait to see where it leads! Many, many thanks to Aimee for allowing me this opportunity! And thank you to everyone who has supported my business so far, and to Jamie of A Desert Fete for introducing me to Aimee a couple years ago! :) By the way, don’t forget to check out the gorgeous Captured feature on Style Me Pretty today!

Happy New Year, everyone!

Lauren

Thank you, 2011!

Well, I wrapped up my busiest holiday season yet just in time to unplug and welcome in the New Year with my hubby! 2011 was filled with amazing families, couples, and friends who allowed me to photograph, hang out, and have fun! Now that the year is coming to an end, I just wanted to send out a great, big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported and encouraged me over the past several months. Here are just a handful of photos that have been taken in the past month or so.

I will be officially unplugged for the rest of 2011, starting NOW. I won’t have my phone on and I won’t be getting online until after January 1. If you try to get a hold of me between now and 2012, you’re going to have to leave a message at the beep, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!

I hope everyone has an incredibly joyous holiday season! Until next year… *BEEP!*

xoxo,
Lauren
