This Steampunk styled shoot was a departure from my typical, natural images, and it was a blast!
Stylist Kammi Long created the session and invited model and makeup artist Michelle Michaels to come! There really are no words to describe the feelings families have when they’re reunited after a deployment. I was honored to be asked to photograph two homecomings recently: one for the USNS Mercy and one for Echo Company of 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines. Here is a little sneak peak of those two, wonderful reunions.

This month’s meetup for the San Diego Shooting Group took us to the cliffs in Del Mar! We got together a couple hours before sunset with Ian and Monica, and shot until the sun went down. Ian and Monica are an extremely fun couple and it was great to work with them for this shoot! Here are some of my favorites from our evening together.
I brought my strobe and beauty dish to the shoot, so we set it up for some shots so that we could capture both the models and the sunset properly exposed. Silhouettes are fun too! We were sharing the trigger for the strobe, so while others were using it, I shot using natural light.
And I took a minute to take a self-portrait! Can you see me? :)
A huge thank you goes out to Ian and Monica for joining us on this hot evening for some photo fun! And another thank you to the photographers who came to practice. :)

Laura and Chris were so laid back on their wedding day that only the bridal gown gave away the nuptials that were happening. The gentlemen spent the morning hanging out near the beach while the ladies glamorized a short distance away. Both the ceremony and reception took place at Carlsbad’s Levyland Estates, a property that juts out into a lagoon right off the gleaming Pacific.
